چکیده
3D-printing is an emerging technology that challenged wrought counterparts by one-step manufacturing for complicated biological devices. However, the material properties and surface features due to parameters play important role on corrosion behaviour influence toxicity of as implant. In this paper, improvement pitting potential was observed electrochemical experiments result grain refinement DMLS 316 L at 200 W laser power. The ICP results verified supressed release toxic cations after formation passive film with enhanced characteristics. pores from have develop into pits when polarised above potential, promoting risk using 3D-printed implant materials.

Accuracy evaluation of metal copings fabricated by computer-aided milling and direct metal laser sintering systems
PURPOSE To assess the marginal and internal gaps of the copings fabricated by computer-aided milling and direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) systems in comparison to casting method. MATERIALS AND METHODS Ten metal copings were fabricated by casting, computer-aided milling, and DMLS. Seven mesiodistal and labiolingual positions were then measured, and each of these were divided into the catego...
متن کاملPassivation and corrosion behaviours of AISI 316L stainless steel as implant materials in simulated blood environment
The purpose of the study was evaluation of corrosion resistance of steel 316L used in cardiologic treatment mainly for vascular stents. The study analysed influence of electrochemical and chemical treatment of the steel surface, including sterilisation with pressurised water steam, on its corrosion characteristics. The tests were performed in artificial blood plasma simulating human blood envir...
متن کاملLaser surface modification of 316 L stainless steel with bioactive hydroxyapatite.
Laser-engineered net shaping (LENS™), a commercial additive manufacturing process, was used to modify the surfaces of 316 L stainless steel with bioactive hydroxyapatite (HAP). The modified surfaces were characterized in terms of their microstructure, hardness and apatite forming ability. The results showed that with increase in laser energy input from 32 J/mm(2) to 59 J/mm(2) the thickness of ...
متن کاملComparison of Mechanical, Metallurgical Properties of 17-4PH Stainless Steel between Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) and Traditional Manufacturing Methods
The purpose of this research was to analyze and compare the mechanical properties of parts made using both Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) and traditional manufacturing methods like casting or forging. Previous research in DMLS was conducted using various materials, but there has been very little done for 17-4PH stainless steel. All the samples used for testing were conducted using the EOSI...
متن کاملThermal Stresses in Direct Metal Laser Sintering
In Direct Metal Laser Sintering objects are created by sequential sintering loose metal powder particles by means of laser technology. When the laser sintering process involves temperature gradients, thermal stresses develop. Corresponding residual stresses induce warping of the densified structure leading to unacceptable tolerance losses. This paper examines the role of laser beam scan pattern...
